As someone that spent several years at UniFirst I can tell you that new leadership has destroyed the brand.
That being said I believe the sole purpose is to prepare UniFirst to be sold to Cintas by the end of the year.
While I do believe that leadership has been lax in the last few years, I believe they can quickly recover. In fact, I already see it happening with pricing increases, new models of pricing, and a tightening of expenses.
My opinion is that due to the family feud, and pride issues, the offer will not be accepted. Are there any specific reasons why you believe that UniFirst is preparing to sell to Cintas?
From tmwhat I understand, Unifirst is being managed by a former cintas higher up, and there is little doubt in my mind that's by accident. There is a good chance that unifirst is being prepped for acquisition. The only thing I am concerned about is the potential for monopolization in certain regions of the US holding up the acquisition. Maybe I'm imagining a problem where there isn't one though.
We can take this to messages if you’d like
I’m also concerned about monopolization. In my opinion, if Cintas acquires first, it would be the death of the industry.
I think if there was someone from Cintas, who had influence, that would be a conflict of interest.
I’ll be submitting an opposition paper if the proposal advances. Do you know of any specific areas where it could be a monopoly? I would love to add them to my report if I could verify.
Not necessarily. Please see my press release: https://www.accessnewswire.com/newsroom/en/business-and-professional-services/cintas-unifirst-proposed-merger-update-uniform-bright-launches-i-1124875
@Uniform bright
Mergers in several markets were made to make UniFirst more appealing to be sold.
UniFirst is being lead by someone who went thru several mergers in waste management.
The family feud ended a few years ago when the old guard left. There is a new direction aimed solely at profit at any cost.
It won't be a monopoly just a majority of the market.
With 50-60% of market share, it practically is a monopoly. No one can even come close to their pricing power.
Actually, the family feud did not end a few years ago. Did you read the open letter that one side of the family sent to the other at the end of 2025. If you read that letter, then you will know that the family feud has not ended.
I’m down
Do you think UniFirst will accept this time? Do you think they will run into any regulatory issues?
