Is there such a thing as job security in the law? I work in government and thought I was secure, but with recent budget cuts and my medical problems I don't know anymore.

I think the only job security in law are partners with huge books of business. But that takes a lot of time and energy to build -- often years -- and usually comes from relationships.

State government in a major economic center. So you’re not impacted by the instability of federal elections, and you might actually get paid a livable (though still not great) salary.

Nope. Especially with AI coming.

If you find it, let me know. Even being a partner doesn't help.

Job security in ID and PI in large metro areas like Philly is probably as good it gets. Even when I see some layoffs or lawyers fired for work related issues, they get scooped up pretty fast by other firms.

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

I have zero clue where to ask this question so I am going to try here - WHAT is with the tree at Daley Center Plaza near the NW corner of Dearborn and Washington that is always just absolutely covered in birds. Like thousands of birds. Does anyone else know what I am talking about or am I losing it?

I want to get an MBA to check a box for management. I’m Asian and have a bad undergrad GPA so I’m thinking online. USC Marshall would be great but it’s like 100k+. Lots out of pocket.

Thoughts on Boston University/Questrom for 25k? It’s got a bad rank but I’m not trying to do IB or management consulting.

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
