Oh, it's legit. Cash only talks. Stocks and bonuses are worthless if the targets are pulled from their asses. Which I assure you - if the internet describes them as asses, anything pulled from them qualifies.
I know several former Wayfair people. The rep seems well-earned, especially re: the CEO.
I think a few folks below are discussing Wayfair as a company and not the HQ's culture on its own.
I think it's heavily team-dependent. My team has a really welcoming and relaxed culture, but I know other teams have really been struggling. It also depends on how much your team might be on the chopping block. I would ask about recent turnovers in the team you're considering (or ask how long everyone you've talked to has been on the team).
Helpful, thank you!
Yet to hear anything good about wayfair, yet they’re a huge Boston employer. Also curious as to why their reputation is so bad
Not a single person I know that took a job there in the past ten years is still there and that covers all sorts of roles from tech to purchasing. Not close enough to any of them to hear the day to day on why they aren’t great but there’s definitely a pattern.
I used to work there. Wayfair earned their negative reviews.
Know a few people who work/have worked there, including some who have been very well compensated. There are layoffs about every six months, and lots of the talent that isn’t being shown the door is walking out. Have heard mixed things on the culture and suspect that your experience is more dependent on your reporting structure / org than on the company as a whole.
