I'm old enough to remember the Crazy Eddie commercials on TV. The ads were awful, it was mainly a guy screaming at you ("His prices are INSANE!"). But I guess they must have been effective. Although I had one relative who wouldn't shop at Crazy Eddie because he hated the commercials so much. Btw, the real Crazy Eddie eventually went to jail for a massive fraud scheme.
People thought commercials were dead when TIVO came out.
Then the internet.
Then streaming services. And now commercials are back on streaming unless you pay to lose them.
People have always failed to realize that nothing coming into your house on a screen is free. Somebody has to pay for it. Subscriptions have not kept up with costs.
I remember watching This is Sportscenter and Most Interesting Man in the World ads on TV growing up.
I was exposed to a lot of good TV ads growing up during the explosion of cable TV. It’s torture coming into the industry at a time where fewer and fewer people understand the power of strong TV advertising.

Choice drives capitalism. And commercials fuel choice. They’ll be with us for a bit me thinks
