It's very difficult for me to take this job seriously. Granted there are important topics we consult on, but the seriousness we give is funny.

I kept hearing about the "prestige" of this job, but it all feels like make-believe, even after 2+ years of being at an MBB. I find myself laughing when managers and partners panic over a deliverable, like a 1-2 day delay means anything.

This could be an ME-specific thing, because the end client is usually royalty so people get stressed, I guess.

I am asked during this RE analyst interview to build a real estate model from scratch. My background is commercial banking and I am used to analyzing real estate deals from the lender side not the developer. The interviewer is generous I must say he’s giving me a few days to complete. However this model is for a ground up multifamily development. I have no prior experience building one. I can find models online but all very complexe to reproduce. How would you handle? I studied finance in undergrad and had a couple of internal audit internships. I only started a few month ago but I never saw myself doing IT Audit and I don’t like it thus far! Would I need to get a CPA in order to move into audit or something more finance/accounting oriented like FDD, Valuation, etc.? (Still need to get to 150, thinking of doing an online MAcc)
