Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

I think it all depends on your interest. Unlike D1, pool or beach destination 3 days max for me or i’ll feel super bored. Big cities ie Paris, London, etc i can spend days and days exploring.

pacing is more important than length, young folks go dawn to dusk nonstop, now that I’m older, I like to just do 1-2 things a day and then chill. So a chill 5 days 4 days is fine for me, will have missed a bunch of stuff but can just return next time.

when working, PTO is limited
Reading these responses, it makes me realize that the amount of time for the type of location probably depends on your interest. I recently realized that probably 4 to 5 days at a beach is perfect for me. However, if it comes to cities or adventures to be had then probably 10 days. When I was younger, I used to love to go for at least two weeks straight, but that feels a little too long to me now that I’m older. Plus, pet sitting gets expensive. Plus, now that we’re family before that gets expensive lol.
We recently went to Puerto Rico and we stayed for seven days. While it was amazing, we probably could have had just as good an experience at five for cheaper. In our first five days, we did old San Juan, snorkeling at two different beaches, rainforest, nighttime kayaking, and chilling at the beach. The last two days we chilled at the beach again and the very last day I shopped around old San Juan and our kids were exhausted so they hung out at the hotel pool .
that said, I am dreaming of a trip to Italy and I feel like 2 to 3 days per city would be nice and maybe three cities total
I agree with the 2-3 day for Italy! Enjoy
There's an element of this being destination dependent, but if I am going on an urban trip for art food and culture I think the sweet spot is 3-4 days. If I'm going for a pool or beach or mountain vacation, the point for me is to unwind and I need at least 7 days to decompress.
The amount of vacation days, destination, and type of trip generally dictate my duration. Mexico resort: full 7 days to chill with 1 tour. Europe: time split between 2 or 3 cities for 10 days. Asia full 7-10 days and a day trip or two. That’s how I roll.
For me, it is specific to the “type” of vacation. For example, I spent 15 days in Europe years ago and went to Amsterdam, Rome, London, Athens, Crete, and Paris and it was great for me. On the flip side, I spent 10 days in Barcelona and Mallorca and it was “too slow”. For beach locations I do well with no more than 6 days
Definitely destination dependent. I'm likely in one country exploring multiple cities every three to four nights for 2 to 3 weeks versus staying in one place for that long. Unless it's a lay by the beach vacation, 4 nights is usually enough.
