1. Report to the Principal
2. Document each time. Time, Date, What happened and make sure you do it on a document like a google document or something that can track time. (No emotions when collecting that data, stick to what happened to you and if you are recording it stick to referring to said student as student and to yourself as staff member.)
3. Set clear boundaries and monitor phone usage. Your school probably has a phone policy which can be enforced. Please keep
physical distance.
4. Request intervention with a social worker or school psychologist or even admin.
5. If it happens again have another staff member witness the interaction or if you see / feel it about to happen navigate yourself to another staff member.
6. There is obviously rules against this behavior and then the student should face consequences.
The problem here isn’t that the student has some sort of “thing” or poor social skills or something of that variety. It’s the issue of violating obvious professional boundaries. So does this methodically and without emotion (even though this is an emotional subject showing the facts and how often it happens adds more weight and fact.)
TL;DR: Record all evidence and keep emotions out of it. Record evidence on an application that you can see the timestamp of when it happened. Your school should have policies in place and the student will be held to those standards.
That is indeed creepy. Ugh!!!
That IS weird. Did you report it to the principal?
There has to be a strict plan in place for this kid. Can you take this to the Achievement Team?
In my very limited opinion, this kid should have to turn over his phone in the main office prior to first hour. He needs a ‘bag check’ (admin needs to approve in my district). We need to get these phones out of school. Then, I’d have him meet w a cop from the district or city. Scare this kid a little.
Then put an escort on this kid. An adult needs to be w him to and in every class, give him a 1:1. Kids like this typically hate 1:1s bc they always have 👀 on always. Must be approved… in my district anyway
Get w your achievement team. Create the plan together. Bring in parents to review the plan. Don’t forget to put under what conditions would equate to a parent pick up or suspension - any send home for us = suspension. Have parents sign the plan.
We’ve had to do plans like this at all grade levels. Beyond this, I’m at a loss as to how to handle it .
It's really quite simple. You need to be proactive and see the administration immediately and tell them what's going. on. The parents and the administration will take action with the student and it will be out ofThe parents and the administration will take action with the student and it will be out of your hands. Also to recommend that the students see a psychologist. Sounds like a foot fetish. Not a good situation. Understanding is not enough for the student. He needs to be dealt with by Professionals in psychology.
I agree with you. This could develop into something dangerous as they get older. They need to learn consequences and get mental help.
Have you talked with your principal? And just a little question. Why don't you have any shoes on? Just wondering.
Okay, you're at your desk and barefoot. Not a problem. Why is this a difficult situation? Take it to Administration! It's a bigger issue than getting the photos removed. 1. Student kneeling at your desk. 2. What are rules regarding student using phone during class time? 3. It would have been best that this was addressed when it first happened. 4. Unfortunately, your feet are now in cyberspace.
