I’ve been given two job offers. One pays $15k less than the other, is a non lawyer role at a nonprofit org, 4 days a week, flexible hours but no health insurance. I like the work, coworkers and boss very much. The other job is a typical government attorney 9-5 job with benefits, but I have a strong feeling I won’t like it. My heart is telling me I’ll be much happier at the nonprofit, and my kids and husband could have health insurance elsewhere, so it’s just me that would need a plan. Thoughts?

Honestly I guess I'm the opposite of everyone else. But I think...considering it seems like you have worked as an attorney already, your intuition is something you should trust. people will tell you to stay in track with something you don't like "just in case" for years just so you still have access to a room you don't even want to be in. But do what's best for you

Actually the better question is whether $6,360 is the price of your happiness.

You should have health insurance. Can't your husband include you?

They may or may not be more expensive but they are almost always better policies

Retake and reapply?

funny

Maybe neither option and keep applying

Do you want to be a lawyer or not? What gives you the strong feeling you won’t like the government job?

I’ve done it before

I’m accustomed to keeping my students’ IEP folders in my classroom & being held responsible for their safekeeping. Now in a new district, I found that the Case Manager keeps all district IEPs in her office. We have to submit our updates & progress notes to her. And we have to make a planning period appointment with her to come look at any IEP folders. How does your district deal with IEP folder custody?

Need help settling a debate with my friend. She thinks I will have an easier time getting research grants because I'm male. I think it's the opposite because companies are trying to change the status quo and get more women involved (which I'm not complaining about... please don't attack me.) Which one of us is more right than the other? I'm interested in getting as many viewpoints as possible, whether or not they agree with me or with her. Thanks!!!
