Leaving 😬
Hello All, I have offer in hand of 27.5 LPA+15% variable from ZS Associates as a BT Solutions delivery consultant and now my current company is ready to retain me by matching the offer & assuring that they will send me onsite to UK in couple of months. Now I am in a dilemma of what to do as I have been looking for onsite opportunities for my entire career so far. Kindly share your thoughts. Any open OCM roles within this network?
Career wise - what would be best? A change management role at Crowe working government software upgrades Or Change Management role at a name brand childcare company? The culture fit at childcare company is amazing.. remote, unlimited PTO Crowe , I'm not sure since it's working with government.

Not worth it. Definitely try contractor roles. Pays very well ( tho no benefits ) and good way to prove yourself.
It could help show you’re motivated and have the basic skills. I wouldn’t expect to always directly apply prosci with clients though - it is somewhat out of vogue (at least with the clients I’ve worked with over the past 5 years)
What is your experience beyond training delivery?
IMO the $5k is worth it once in the role and you can apply that knowledge immediately. As a gateway to a job, it may get you a phone screen but they’ll still ask about practical experience which you may not have, or could reframe to be relevant to the role.
I am Prosci certified and have been for many years. It does nothing to help get you in the door though it is listed as a requirement sometimes.
Try contract roles
May I also suggest a change management role with a Workday partner firm (Huron, Avaap, the Groove)?
From experience, these firms will hire for change management roles without direct change management experience.
While I don’t work for one anymore (do OCM internally now), this is how I got started 7 years ago, coming in with 5 years experience doing teaching and technology training.
Yes. This is how I initially got started in OCM. The only caveat is that you have to pass HCM testing or you’re fired.
What about considering APMG change management? I just started doing the course this week because I have years of experience in CM but no certifications and a number of people I’ve been speaking to say it makes a difference. The idea of this approach is that you apply the most appropriate models rather than follow one method ie Prosci ADKAR. Most training institutes are geared up for corporate training delivery and so if you tell them you’re funding yourself you can get a significant discount. I got about 1/3 off!

Consider looking into the CCMP (Certified Change Management Practitioner) certification from The Associaiton of Change Management Professionals. Although there's a required educational component, you can fulfill that with less expensive courses than Prosci. Also, in the application phase, you could use your prior experience as long as it's a strong fit for the ACMP guidelines.

I agree with the person who said Prosci is worth it if you can apply the knowledge in an existing role. To get the role, invest less upfront and still get certified.
