I've been job hunting for the past few weeks, and I was just turned down because I asked for $25 an hour, for a location that stated that the max salary was $28 an hour. At first I thought it was because I had shot too low, and was under selling myself, but before the interviewer answered my question before I had time to ask it. Apparently, $25 an hour was out of their budget.

This confused me. The max salary they advertised was $28 an hour. I have not heard back, and I don't mind at all.

Who does the Director of Product Marketing typically report to (besides the CEO in tiny startups) ? VP of Marketing? I can't imagine it would be housed under Product/Engineering...

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Any tips for how to better implement feedback on drafts? My work is so heavily redlined that I struggle to consistently follow through with every comment/feedback. I am in patent prosecution, so it is a lot of detailed technical writing, but is also fairly formulaic, which is nice. Thankfully the partner I work with is extremely patient and a very good teacher, I would just like to be better at learning from his very thorough feedback.

What is a good salary for a director in NY?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary.
