Law consumes everything we give it. You're allowed to just do it for work- it doesn't need to be an all consuming passion or a core part of your identity.
You may, however, consider a different area of law. Consider something that's more counseling and less arguing
I used to think I hated being a lawyer but it turned out I just hated my old firm. Give yourself a chance to try somewhere else or another practice area before you decide it’s not for you
Same. Spent years trying to find a non-legal job but ended up with a different firm. It turns out that not only do I like it, but I'm also good at it!

I think the hardest part of deciding if it is the law you don’t like is determining how much shame you feel when thinking of walking away. Once you get past the sunk costs/failure feelings rooted in the shame or guilt you’ll probably better process if it is the practice area or law generally. I’m looking to step away from law after a few years therapy. It took quite some time to process that no part of walking away makes me as an individual a failure or a bad person. It simply opens up a life I would not otherwise have that I am hoping can promote a happier life overall. When I finalized my decision to leave law, I became a less attentive lawyer (I am not readily available to my clients and created strict 9-5 boundaries) I continue to get my work done but have stopped letting it consume my life. I truly treat it a “just a job” and I think I provide the same advocacy to my clients, while supporting myself. I really hope you find the peace you need in law or elsewhere. Sending you so much support for your journey! 🥰🥰🥰
