Does taking these meds have some effect on ability to get life insurance? I have a standard policy through my firm and they didn’t inquire into my ADHD meds.
Heard from a physician friend that there is little issue taking the ADHD meds until 18, but at that point significant health risks can develop. Speak to a psychiatrist for more info.
I have $1 mil policy and I disclosed anxiety and ADHD meds. Wasn’t an issue at all. Went in for the usual insurance checkup and blood work — they didn’t even ask any follow up questions about the klonopin or adderall.
That's great to hear, thank you. May I ask what state you're in and what insurance company you used?
Policy for $1 million. Disclosed both my ADHD and generalized anxiety disorder, along with the medications I take for them. Didn’t have an issue.
I’m no expert but I don’t know why it would prevent you from getting insurance, you just might not get the best rate.

It's an issue. That's why I'm looking for advice from others that have dealt with it. It doesn't come up for group term policies but that's not what I'm seeking.
Appreciate everyone's input here but really looking for practical advice from someone in ADHD meds that has successfully secured a life insurance policy. I get that it makes it difficult, more expensive, etc. and that's why I'm here. So if you've done it, any advice and what insurance company did you use? Thanks everyone!
