I’ve been so many places where everyone throws around comms planning, connections planning, and channel planning (and others) interchangeably. But then some folks say there’s nuance. Is there?

For me:

Comms / connections / engagement planning are creative strategy - ie taking that idea to make it creative in contextual ways. Linking the creative idea and it’s potential with the media agency.

Channel / media planning - is media and the partners they use/access - ownership, delivery and effectiveness use of the media. Linking the creative agency to the potential media touch points.

But there is overlap:
Channel role
Audience research
Comms hierarchy
Measuring
Etc.

100% agree with this and a very helpful way of articulating it. Thanks!

The new models and asks in media agencies (the good ones) all do creative executions and entertainment that require comms and engagement strategy. So could be the same distinctions. Minus the insinuation that it’s separated by ad agency and media agency. Ad agencies may not like it, but it’s real.

I am in NY for the holidays and I picked up the longines master for $2050 at Macy's. I have always wanted one, but I just saw it on Jomashop on sale for $1400 and I am having some serious buyer's remorse. I am thinking of returning it and buying from Jomashop. Yay or Nay? Is Jomashop reliable?

Thanks.

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

So, this is a little awkward, but I recently moved to SD for a fresh start, and honestly, I love this city. My problem is I have been more of a homebody since I moved here and I'm a little intimidated to go out and meet people because I don't feel like I fit in here. I am overweight and this city is full of active, and attractive people. I guess I am wondering what my experience would be if I got out more? I feel like people look at me when I'm in public because I stand out due to my size.

Why do we always tell people “Be the best version of yourself before starting a relationship?”
I feel this is wrong…first, if you’re someone who constantly wants to be better, this doesn’t work. Also, what happens when you’re going through things and you’re not the best version? What happens is…the going gets tough and then one person leaves the other.

Hi all, does anyone have a good framework they would recommend for developing HCP/physician communication strategies and defining tactics for HCP engagement (outside of pharma reps)? There is of course a ton out there for patient communications such as patient journey mapping but engaging HCPs is a very different beast. Looking for something a bit more nuanced than a traditional consumer framework. Thanks!

Connections and comms strategy are changing with the industry. Where do you bring the most value to teams and clients today, and where / how do you see that evolving ?

I’m being provided the opportunity to build an integrated planning group in my agency. We’ll be responsible for things like:
- category and comp audits
- trend analysis: distilling research into an actionable narrative for clients
- persona development
