I’ve been trading for a while now, and I’m stuck between two paths—taking smaller, steady gains or swinging for the fences with high-risk, high-reward trades. Last month, I had a solid 10% overall gain by playing it safe, but I keep thinking about the one play I skipped that would’ve returned 300% in two days. That kind of FOMO is real. I know long-term survival is about consistency, but it’s tough to ignore the lure of big wins. How do you manage the internal tug-of-war between staying disciplined and chasing those home runs?

I used to chase big wins all the time, but it burned me more often than not. Now, I aim for steady gains and allocate a small portion of my capital for “lottery” trades. That way I scratch the itch for big returns without wrecking my overall strategy.

That FOMO is so real. The way I see it, steady gains keep you in the game long-term, while those moonshot trades can either make your year or wipe you out. I try to set aside a small % of my portfolio for high-risk plays, enough to scratch the itch but not derail my strategy. Best of both worlds, that's how I see it!

The FOMO is what gets me every single time but like I always say, hindsight is 20/20 because that could have very easily went in the other direction and then you would be mad haha. I am a play it safe kind of girl, I just don't like taking big risks.

Oh well, guess I won’t be going underwater. Just kidding haha - I think it’s cool and I do like that they ditched the HEV

How much % or $ you think is safe for margin debt or borrowing from fidelity. I am tempted to take margin debt to buy stocks on fire sale. Generally I don't like debt and keep it zero or 1-2k. Want to avoid margin calls in the event stocks goes down more.
