If you enjoy the work you were doing, then play to your strengths and focus on finding a similar role. If your layoff makes you doubt your career choice, or was actually a welcome relief, then evaluate yourself to determine your interests and any talents/skills you have that were unused or underutilized in your job. Look for entry level positions that reflect what you find out.

that's great advice! and it's funny, the layoff was a relief, but not because of the work. Moreso the company culture and environment. i wouldn't mind looking in the same field, just a very different company!
That's a better mindset than I had during my layoff lol. I definitely spent time focusing on learning new tools and taking online courses to strengthen my skills, but I didn't have the positivity or the gratitude to see it the way you're seeing it. More than upskilling even, I do think networking is what helped me eventually land something. So I'd put a lot of energy there too!!
