Constantly
Yes, I do this often but I'm also a vicious re-reader because I cringe when I receive a poorly-worded email. Also giggled at the use of "just" in your post, because it's so ingrained in us to make ourselves seem "smaller" or less obtrusive. You're not alone at all.
All the time
I do this all the time.
I get what you’re saying, but I don’t really overthink tweaking my emails. As long as my message is clear and professional, I don’t worry too much about sounding more assertive or soft. That said, I do see how language choices can shape perceptions. Curious if you have noticed any real difference in how people respond when you make those edits?
I do try to take out certain things because of that. I try to be more clear if anything. Still try to be polite and include things that I normally would, but find the happy medium with getting my point across which has definitely gotten lost when I was less direct.
I do this all the time too!
Alll the time!!! I was a big apologizer or a “just” but I too learned to be more confident/direct but respectful. And the way corporate life is treating most of us, I agree that we should continue to be respectfully direct and stop apologizing to people all the dam time over minor things due to the beast of working with and around other humans in a overly regulated world!!
