I've just gone through 7 interviews with a company, received positive feedback from HR after each one, was told I'm the only candidate to be invited to a Final Interview which seemed to have gone well. Then the day after HR sheepishly informs me the executives have decided not to hire for that position, but to promote someone internally instead. I feel like I've been scammed. Has something similar happened to anyone else?

If you've completed 7 interviews for this company, they definitely would've been considering you for the role. They wouldn't have wasted that much time if they didn't think you would be great for the position.

I manage a global internal recruitment team, that would've been a waste of everyone's time if we were never intending to offer the role externally... but we would also consider internal candidates before looking externally.

Considering a Product Owner role. Any best practices of what questions to ask during an interview? First phase deals with a virtual Teams interview with the recruiter and her manager on Tuesday. Excited since this is a hop from a Product Analyst role and entails an offer of over $30,000 from what I'm getting now! This would be a permanent full-time compared to my current contractor role that ends in March.

Asking advice from a recruiter: I’ve been recently laid off :( This week I took some time to reflect, talk to friends and family. I want to be more thoughtful on my next move and although interviewing right away would be logical I feel I want to take a break and some time for myself. Take a month or two off working and use that time to plan thoughtfully on my next move. Would having that gap in my resume be an issue when I go back to the job market?
