Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

An update on my inquiry… I got the job 4 hours after my interview. Thank you all for the advice. I took your guidance and I got the job! 😆
Well done! Congrats!
I would just say that you are looking for new opportunities. You’ve been in one company for 15 years so I don’t think they will really question you on that. They didn’t when I started looking after 9 years.
I agree 👍
I would talk about how difficult of a decision it is for you after having made valuable contributions for your current employer during all the years you’ve been there. Include three key things you learned and contributed. You feel that now is the right time for you to get out of your comfort zone because you are looking for the next challenge to achieve your career goals. You are now at the fork in the road of your career and as uncomfortable as it is to start at a new company, it’ll be exciting and I wish you luck.
I think a simplified version of the real reason is totally acceptable. I’m finding that I’ve reached the ceiling at my current company with 15 years and want to grow into xyz (supporting larger accounts/more execs)
Whatever you do - don’t start aggressively complaining to them about your current job. Keep it light, superficial. Since you’ve been with your current company so long nobody is going to accuse you of hopping or not giving it a try at your current company.
This is a trick question and you need to be careful in answering it.
You have to make sure you do not bad mouth your current company and let the new company know that you are looking for newer opportunities.
A way to answer this would be
"I really love my current company. They have given me a lot of opportunities to grow and have been in great projects. But right now I am at a point where I am looking for newer challenges and want to work on the latest cutting edge technologies. So, I wanted to see what is out there and if I see anything that would match my interests I want to explore that option."
CONTINUATION of my post….
I am trying to leave one company for another in the same industry.
I am currently unhappy with the current company and need a change of scenery. I have been with this company for 15 years and there is a lot of favoritism.
An employee can only get ahead if they have the right last name (related to someone with no experience) or are great brownnosers.
I have voiced my interest to grow to multiple executives according to the chain of command and it all seems that I come to a dead end.
I know I am a great employee because I am handed big accounts/projects one after another and colleagues around me or new hires are getting the red-carpet treatment and I am not.
I’ve asked for a change of title, more money, a company phone, and the answer I get is “Let me see what I can do.” That is as far as the conversation goes. I do follow up and it’s a dead end.
Advice on how to answer this question is greatly appreciated as I have not had to interview for 15 years.
Thank you for your advice.
