I've just moved to Canada and I have a Bachelor's in Non-Canadian Uni and a Master's in a Canadian Uni. I have my PR. I'm applying to jobs but I've not gotten any interviews yet. I have about 4 years non-Canadian exp. in the field. I don't have my P.Eng and I'm not sure if I even qualify.
Any advice for me?
Thanks.

Run to the USA as fast as you can.
There are very few Canadian OEM’s (original equipment manufacturer).Canada it now Bombardier was good, but it’s part of Airbus now.

Damn! That'll take a while though :(. Are there no SMEs? My first few jobs were all SMEs.

Hello there, I was in the same situation in 2018 but I am still in Canada practicing Engineering. I agree that it takes time to get P.Eng. but it is not difficult to get an Engineering role as an Engineer-in-training member. There are many small and mid-size companies to gain work experience- especially in the Prairie region. You can also start reporting your non-Canadian work experience once you are registered as a member-in-training with your provincial regulatory board.

See a lot of people slamming their “big firm” experience and wanting to move on from it. I’ve got 2YOE but not at a big firm and can’t help feeing I’m missing out on something (name brand, skills, network etc). Is it better not to chase it and go somewhere else (tech / startups etc) rather than trying to get in at entry level ?
