I’d love to be an entry level staff 1 for life, but that additional responsibility comes with additional pay, so here I am.
Forget promotion, now days job market is so poor that it’s even hard to get employed. I have done 7 years in banking but now unemployed for last 1 year!
I was a head high school football coach and it was not as expected to be sure. I would have enjoyed it if I had more flexibility in staffing, but I was stuck with the existing staff, who were not a good fit for my vision and approach. I lost my best 3 coaches - one got fired from their teaching role for a conflict with a principal, one left because the rest of the staff was cold to him, and one changed jobs to a different district with better pay. I was only allowed to replace one of them, but then forced to take someone I did not want, who was a cancer to the program.
Ironically, when I left the next guy got everything I had been asking for.
Yes, I have not enjoyed my job since May 2018, when I left a supervisor job in Frontline, doing deposit fraud. However, my HCoL city is getting more expensive by the day, my fun job base was 61k, current job is 132k.
Now that I make an acceptable amount of money a year, I am trying to move into a role at the same pay I like. Not going well though.
Yes and I didn’t take the opportunity. I realized I don’t want any part of leadership opportunities. People are too difficult to lead and random co worker strangers being my responsibility at the end of the day sounds exhausting. I’d rather just be responsible for myself.
