The first and most important thing I learned in college is to consume as much media as you can. This way you will have an idea on what to avoid. Read scripts! That is the best advice I can give
Reading other scripts is the best practice in my opinion
I took a scriptwriting course for fun and that helped me get in the zone, still working on it though...
With lots and lots of brainstorming. After you've picked a few good ideas, you look for a way to relate them, and little by little, you'll put together a solid outline. Consume a lot of content so that you always have plenty of inspiration, and it will come out on its own.
Start with taking inspiration from other media scripts. It'll help you see how to make it flow more naturally. Courses also help a lot in my opinion. Getting more valuable knowledge from someone in the same field is priceless. And lastly, make an outline of the scenes you have in mind. Plan it out.
Actually, I really don't know. The idea just comes from nowhere. Whatever comes to mind, I just jot it down. Then rearrange everything from there.
I would detach from the idea that your script is good or bad. For now, just get started on writing. You come back to review it afterward and you can see what works or doesn't. No one just pumps out a great script on the first go. It takes writing and rewriting and a lot of editing to complete it. Put the work every day and when you don't like what you come up with just try again
I like to start in the abstract and roughly think of "what" story I want to tell, as you develop a strong idea for that you can start to write the "how" and start connecting the pieces of your story
I write a lot of scenes in medias res. I often don't know how a story gets to that plot point but I know that I want to include a certain sequence so I just write from there on. I don't end up using everything I write but it helps me from stagnating
You need to at least have a rough outline in your head. Make sure to take down notes. Then you can start connecting all the scenarios.
