Honestly, I’ve given up trying to “hack” jet lag. I just lean into it—if I’m wide awake at 3 AM, I’ll go for a walk, read, or explore early morning spots. Fighting it makes me feel worse. It’s part of the travel experience, and my body eventually adjusts within a couple of days anyway.
This is an interesting question and I think it depends on which direction you’re traveling. This might not work for everyone, but if you’re traveling east, try a 15 to 30 minute nap upon arriving and checking into your accommodations and then following the “time of day routine” for the rest of your “landing day.” I heard it helps keep you refreshed for the rest of the day despite the time difference and you’ll still be tired enough to sleep through your first night.
If traveling west, I heard it’s easier to keep up with the jet lag and time difference. The biggest travel tip we ever received is to not book any activities, meetings, appointments, etc on your “landing day” because it’s the day when your body is adjusting to the difference in the sun’s cycle for your new location.
