Job hopping is the fastest and most effective way to bump up the salary. How struggling are you in getting out of the comfort zone to a new company or position?

It's true that moving on to another job is the most effective way to get a raise. It's how companies attract new talent. I got out of the comfort zone once and found a better job and it worked out pretty well for me. I was thinking maybe I'd try that again this year, but events have convinced me it's not a good time. Companies seem to be doing a de facto hiring freeze in response to all the disruption with the trade war and tariffs. So it's not even clear that I could find something else if I tried. I think it best to stay put for now and ride out the storm.

It's not my comfort zone that's the limiting factor. I would happily take another job with a pay bump if one came along. The problem right now is the job market. Do I really want to send out hundreds of applications to waste time interviewing at companies that are going to hire someone who was laid off and willing to take a paycut just to be working again? For now, it makes more sense for me to stay where I am rather than stressing myself out.

I think this is true for the most part and I've done a bit of job hopping in my career over the past 10 years in order to bump my pay much higher than staying with one company. But I feel like this mentality is starting to slow down with economic uncertainty and the recession looming. I'm going to be holding onto my job for the foreseeable future.

It's always a great idea to self evaluate your future and we're you are headed. Research and educate yourself for the next move. I was fortunate to have long tenor in three
different fields. Observation is a important mindset. Why sit back and observe? We do this to Forcast answers to questions all prrofessionals have. Can I advance in this company? How much of myself will it take to get there? Risks on outside adventures? Reminding ourselves you get what you put into your work ethics.

I’m skeptical of the job market right now - how strong of a relationship do you have with your manager and how far out are you from comp discussions. If it’s 6 months I think it’s a good time to have a convo internally to ask what’s possible or what they need to see.

I’m trying to stay loyal to my company

Correction to that. Job hopping used to be the best way to get a raise. But in this current job market job hopping is the best way to find yourself unemployed or underpaid. In fact, many people who job hopped and reached a high salary are now finding it difficult to find a job. Because they priced themselves out of the market.

I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own. There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!

Thoughts on leaving PA primarily due to the metrics based culture (utilization, dtc, use of X digital tool, revenue, margin, etc). I find this aspect of PA stressful and exhausting but not sure if this is something you just get used to. Currently a manager and seems like the metrics just change over time / don’t get easier.

Interested in working in PE, but experiences align more with the Ops side (3 YOE in strategic value creation). Is there a significant difference in total comp potential between ops and investments roles? Not sure how to make a case to break into investments with minimal DD experience, so thinking about Ops recruitment (Associate). Would also be grateful to learn about potential strategies non-DD focused consultants have used to ultimately break into investment teams.

Yidden, I've been slowly drifting away from religion. It's odd because I used to be so connected, and I still retain the same values! Technology, however, has made religious ritual feel so lifeless, and I can barely muster the energies to maintain even a bare Jewish lifestyle. I become so sad when I see my friends becoming more connected, while I find myself gradually falling away 😞... HELP!
