Just bought a house, fixer upper in a nice area. Any good furnishing stores or brands you guys recommend? Figured I’d ask on here since everyone is relatively young and doesn’t shop at Ashley’s or Living Spaces. Thanks y’all

If you are on Facebook, lookup your local buy nothing, give something free group. People usually have items they gift to others and it comes in handy if on a budget!

Go to Furniture Land South they have 7 million square ft of furniture all the same stuff before it is branded by the likes of Pottery Barn, restoration hardware and the like. Congrats on the house!

Crate & barrel, west elm, cb2. I’ve received heat for this one but you can find nice pieces at raymour and Flanigan. Don’t forget to look at clearance/sale items. If you have a friend with a designer discount leverage that.

I’m also not opposed to buying used prices that have been gently used (coffee tables, dining tables, night stands, etc). I would avoid getting couches, mattresses, chairs, stuff like that, but that may be a personal preference.

You can get really great quality furniture at a discount if you ask about floor models also. We got some of our favorite furniture from Crate and Barrel at a heavy discount during their season change by asking about the floor models. Our dinner table has a small scratch but it's a solid wood stunner for less than 50% the catalog price. Also got lamps, chairs & rugs this way.

IKEA isn’t unique but their items are easy to match with other furniture (between sets or with non-IKEA items) and relatively good quality for the price.

Crate &Barrel has great stuff and their furniture may be a little pricey, but I love the kitchen decor! And the kitchen stuff is at a great price point

Ehhh...the only ones that are 6k are either custom order fabrics or are enormous 6+ person sectionals.

We had an enrourmous sectional from wayfair for $2300 but the cushion fill didn't really last the test of time - 4 years later they're half the height they used to be.

To me, the material quality, customer support, and ability to go see and sit in person (vs article, castlery, burrow, etc) justifies the Crate premium, and it generally comes in under pottery barn/west elm pricing.

To each their own, though!

Purpose - use - audience… are you looking for stopgap while you figure out things? How long will you be there? Is this your home or your passion? So many questions before real answers emerge.

A buy nothing group is amazing to fill a void.

Turn and burn? Big box stores are fine.

Historical house .. look for salvage places…. Neighbors.

How much elbow grease do you want to put in?

To many unanswered questions for real answers.

Jesus… just wanted to see if anyone knew niche brands or brands that are unique to them that they love to shop at. Don’t spin your wheels, it’s just a basic question.
