I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼

I put my profile up on Hired on Tuesday with what I feel like is a high minimum base ( 200k ) and I’m getting 5 or more interview requests a day. Am I shooting too low? I’m not really looking to leave my current job, but I wanted to see what’s out there and gauge my worth. ( current base 180 TC ~300 )

Hey everyone! I have a new employee who’s been absent since Nov 2nd (worked 2 days). They reached out to inform me of a family emergency but never communicated a return date. They also responded to their managers email saying they’re not in a place to take on this role now. But they also said that a family meme et will be needing assistance for 4-6 mo and they don’t want to hold back the business so they’re okay with whatever we decide. It’s been 10 days. Would you consider this job abandonment?

So I know when you do a mega backdoor Roth you have to pay taxes on any gains you had between deposit into the after tax and before the conversion to Roth... But if your gains are negative do you get to take that as a capital loss?

My wife and I are looking at ~18% (on $250k of income) while maxing out both of our 401ks. We own a home in the Midwest, have 2 vehicles, and will be making payments on $50k in student loans (once the pause is ended). Having our first child this fall so I'm really over analyzing our finances.

Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. No explanation just kicked out. Advice?
