+1 on the Grand Seiko - have a White Birch and love it. You get so much watch for the $. It looks exquisite and is a true watch person’s watch.
We love to spend other people's money in this bowl. I love my Seiko.

Grand Seiko!!! Get yourself an SBGA413 or a White Birch.
Yeah they’re hard to ignore. I kind of like the SBGJ001.

Santos and a 114270 should be right around $10k if you get used

The smart link bracelet is great too. Totally changes up the feel by putting it on leather that it comes with, and a black croc dresses it up even more.

Which IWC and what didn’t you like about your previous collection? Seems pretty well rounded if perhaps not the most unique of choices for a diver and chronograph.

See reply below. Only thing to add: Cartier is pretty hot right now so I’m not sure the extent to which you can expect to be the only person wearing one.
What’s the budget?
I like the Explorer 1 best out of the current Rolex lineup. Even looking at the 114270. That plus a Tank or Americaine would be a good duo.

Green Harrod’s version is not the BB58, it’s the 41mm Black Bay Heritage. 58 only comes in blue and black/gilt.

What made you want to start with a clean slate?
You’re looking at good all rounders for sports and outdoors. I literally never wore my sports watches for sporty things, so it felt wasted. That’s why I’m zeroing in on Cartier, someone mentioned GO, maybe a vintage Datejust, etc.

Got it. On my first go around, I skipped both the Sub and the Speedy because of how many people I know who own them.
Sounds like you’re set on the Santos - that’s a great choice. Do you want to think of that as a your dressy option or your sporty option? It can work either way - I’d probably want to add something a little sportier (read: ski trip, hot tub, beach trip, leisure travel, etc.).
What about the Nomos Club Sport Neomatic 37mm? It’s 200M water resistant but <9mm thick and can dress up with a leather strap. Also comes in green. In-house movement with a genuinely innovative escapement and decently well decorated especially for the price.

Agree. Lots of their older stuff wore a lot bigger than the case diameters suggested, and had those huge straight lugs that didn’t look very good. I like this one a lot but haven’t seen it in the metal.
If you like Santos, check out the gp laureatto and chopard alpine eagle. Those two have made my next choice tough. But wrist size matters here. Cartier has more options for the perfect fit
Love that Chopard. Have not found one in person, but I like it a lot.
Update - what about the Cartier Santos Large in blue? Looks absolutely gorgeous online. Have not seen one in person yet, just the large white.
