Currently at one of the Big 3 Japanese banks (MUFG, Mizuho, SMBC) in debt capital markets and might have an opportunity to join the Capital Markets team at Wells Fargo (all in London). What are the thoughts reputationally on WF vs the Japanese banks in EMEA? Also if anyone has any insight into promotions (ability to go up the ranks faster in WF) and salary what would be super helpful! Wells Fargo Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc.

Places that I've lived and loved, all within a 20 min commute to the Wharf are Bow (Caspian Wharf) and Silvertown (Royal Victoria, Brittania Village, Royal Wharf). Then you have N. Woolwich near the O2, lots of nice apartments and quite buzzing. In the other direction you have St Katherine's Dock/ Wapping which has nice restaurants and bars near the river.
Thanks a lot
Greenwich is also a nice area to look at - its green and has a lot sightseeings to appreciate, many activities to entertain. It’s not too close to Canary Wharf that makes you feel that you spend most of your work/life in one area, but it’s also not too far with less than 20mins DLR commute (if you live close to the Cutty Sark station)
Congrats! The jubilee line stops are quite good as you can jump on a train direct into the office easily. If you want to live in east London Stratford isn’t bad it has a big Westfield mall and quite close but if you want to live in west London which is generally more expensive and has more affluent areas then places like Fulham (just near to Chelsea on the district line) are good but take longer to commute in. Although they are easy to get into central London from. Canary Wharf and most stops around that area on the jubilee line have some lovely affordable flats but are not really near anything in terms of the centre of town/city where most of the things to do are and are quite dead on the weekends. What do you enjoy doing?
I disagree with the stops near Canary Wharf having nothing to do on weekends. Just 2 stops away is London Bridge, then Southwark and Waterloo where you have south bankside, Bermondsey st, borough market…there’s loads to do south of the river but I know some people don’t like going in that direction.
Update please! Where did you decide to move to in the end? 😊
