Alllllll the time, but all my responsibilities and fears are keeping it as just a dream for now. I know I'd be happier if I was able to do my own thing; I just don't feel ready or able to sacrifice the security of a paycheck for it yet.

Sure, I'll think about going off on my own, and I've made notes at times for a business plan. But the problem as I see it would be coming up with a business that works. Most of these startups, if you really look at them, are doing things that nobody asked for. Or they're trying to work in a space that's already full of experienced people with mature companies. If I came up with something that I thought would work, I'd go for it, but that's a challenge.

I started doing freelance work a couple years ago, didn’t make a ton, but gave me that glimpse into being my own boss. I’m still working at it, not enough to totally commit though. Tons of learning curves and lessons learned the hard way. Has been extremely rewarding even though it’s still small.

I hope you don’t really think that you have any security with that paycheck

Looking to get a bit of insight on breaking into tech working as an executive assistant after working for BigLaw for 20+ years.

I've been applying to tech companies for executive assistant positions - in particular, remote work positions - and I have yet to get a nibble.

I'm extremely tech savvy and have a lot of initiative but I am afraid that these companies are put off by how long I've been working assuming that I am a middle-aged woman that is not able to go with the flow.

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?
