Looking at a Facebook people strategy role and wondering if I’d have a higher chance at getting a first round interview if I was referred by a FB recruiter in a different department? I have another friend who is a FB benefits manager but he says 9/10 referrals of his don’t get one. Thoughts?

I would say just take whichever one you can actually secure? I'd assume they'd have the same chances of success.

Hi all! I recently finished my Masters in Biology. I worked on a few studies with human subjects as well as animal work. I am hoping to get a job in clinical research as either a CRC or CRA. I previously worked at a doctors office as a care manager for 4 years, but outside of my academic work I don’t have experience in research. What advice do you all have for entering the field in my position?
Thanks!!

I was laid off in June. Most consulting companies are on a hiring freeze that I’ve talked to. It’s pretty hard on my psyche to not get down on myself. I worked so hard to get to Deloitte and now it feels like I’m starting over. It’s tough. Any advice on companies that are hiring? I only want to go if it is a fit not just anywhere you know. Thanks.

My in-laws live in a bad area. A few months ago there was a drive-by shooting and several bullets went into their home(mostly in the living room) and destroyed their car. Thankfully, no one was physically hurt. Easter is approaching and his parents are planning something and my husband wants to go, but I don’t( nor bring my children). Recently his grandma died and the funeral was held at a church by his parents. We were literally in and out, but I feel he may use that as leverage. Thoughts?

Ummm, genuine question - is saying "Happy Friday!", Happy Monday!", "Happy (day of the week)!" a business etiquette thing? Showing of good manners?

I've never heard anyone say it before until working in corporate (previously had shift service jobs in small businesses). I always forget to say it until someone brings it up, and I always feel bad bc it's like I'm not a good colleague or smthg if it is common business etiquette that I never learned before
