Hi! I just accepted a Relationship Banker II role in Allen, TX. My offer letter was 50k base and 1k guaranteed commission a month first year. I just graduated w a degree in Business Administration. Basically the info I got on how commission works was pretty vague. Anyway I wanted to see what someone I’m their 1st or 2nd year can realistically expect to on average make in commission a year in this role. Also what do bonuses in the role look like? I’m hoping to just hear some ballpark numbers! JPMorgan Chase JPMorgan Chase

I resigned recently...
1. Tell your manager first verbally. [They may counteroffer. They will also tell you, likely a bit later or next day, what your last expected working day is]
2. File at go/resign
Depending on your role, ongoing work and where you're going, you may be asked to leave as soon as you file, as late as the last day of your notice period, or anything in between. As a VP going to a competitor, unless you are in some direct client role, I would predict you will be asked to work for 2-3 weeks for orderly transition and then enjoy the remaining as your 'gardening' leave.
One more question— did you tell your manager your last day of working when you resigned?
1. Please communicate with the boss first before writing an email- you can discuss the dates with the boss in the process.
2. Never, not ever, disclose your potential employer - not even on your last day.
3. If a counteroffer is made, do not accept it. If you accept, you will regret it in 1-2 years, if not sooner.
4. If you have paid leave, recommend cashing it, unless you really need the break while serving the notice period.
5. Knowledge transfer (documentation/training) is usually not part of the serving employment contract. This is your boss's headache; if you are up for it, you can assist- but this will not get you any benefits, neither as $, nor winning favours/relationships.
Caveat: The advice is suitable for employees who have served atleast 2 years or more. If less, feel free to do in any many ways.
