Usually if you press the recruiter they'll tell you the salary range for that position. If they're hesitant, I usually say "it's in both our best interests not to waste anyone's time if the salary is way off the mark". I can't think of a single instance where a recruiter refused to give me that information. So if you didn't ask before agreeing to move forward with interviews that's on you.

Yeah, I even live in a place where it’s mandatory they include salary in job posts and they don’t. Very frustrating, but I ask for the salary bands during the first interview for sure.

It's true. In places where it's legally required and they still dodge it, and that tells you everything. First interview salary talk should be normal, and not hidden.
