McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company how important is it to live close to an office? About to start with the firm and looking to buy a house soon in bay area. Most (affordable) good properties are fairly far away from SF

Not at all necessary but I am very happy about being walking distance to the office. Makes my life easier

Doesn’t matter if you’re willing to commute on Fridays, which I think will become more normal again at some point. Otherwise, you’ll be going to/from airport every Monday and Thursday.

As M1 said, offer letters used to say that. I assume they still do, but not sure.

Amazing!

I would still stay close to office- even with the new working model there will likely be significant co- location with your teams. And to really get off on a strong foot you want to be side-by-side with people who can teach you things, not trying to do it all over zoom

And for context my last study the client stayed remote but the teams collocates in each other’s cities every other week with a 1 week break totally virtual. So 1 week travel 2 weeks at home city

Folks on this thread, how is WLB in the SF office btw? If I do have to BART just want to know if it’ll still be running when I leave 😂
