After 8 to 10 years of experience, it is generally expected to move into a team-leading role. However, MM is an extremely broad module covering sourcing, procurement, inventory management, logistics execution, and distribution processes—all within MM itself. It is also highly integrated with other SAP modules as well as third-party applications, software, and tools.
Core MM concepts such as pricing, taxation, and accounting valuation are business-critical and have a high impact on overall operations. For a logistics consultant, SAP MM is essential. However, for a new learner, it’s advisable to choose another module—such as Ariba, EWM, WM, Coupa, or even PM/PS—as your primary skill, while keeping MM as a supporting area. Don’t limit yourself to MM alone; expand your expertise across other modules that reason of post.
