I think it's a good idea, so it doesn't sound bad, tell them that this way they will be taking care of themselves, since there are still a lot of flu infections and among them some infections of covid 19.
I think it is a bad idea, at this point many shoppers don't want to wear masks anymore and really get upset when you require them to wear masks. I have seen people stop buying in stores just because they are asked to wear them.
I'm not a fan of masks. They make it difficult to see who is actually at the open house, and they can be uncomfortable and hot.
Face masks are not necessary at open houses - they are only necessary if you are sick. I wouldn't ask anyone to wear a house, BUT I would ask them if they're feeling fine with their health.
I am still part of the minority who prefers wearing masks when indoors. I simply don't trust people, so many of them were coming to my open houses during the worst of Covid and refused to mask up because of their freedom... ugh.
N95 masks are the only ones that actually provide any protection from viral infections; the paper ones everyone wears do not prevent Covid. So if you want to "virtue signal" to clients, you can feel free to ask them to wear masks... but understand that by doing so, you will run the risk of alienating potential buyers. A better course of action would be to clean everything thoroughly before and after showing a house.
I would have some masks on hand in case people want to wear them, but if they don't, I certainly wouldn't push the issue.
You can ask if you want, but some people (including myself) will think you are being overly phobic and a bit of a hypochondriac. I personally wouldn't wear a mask, but I know that some people would avoid open houses that didn't require them.
Definitely going overboard. The best prevention for any type of sickness is to wash your hands before you eat anything or touch your face. Viruses are microscopic and unless a mask is airtight (which the vast majority aren't), it wouldn't even slow down a virus.
