Life is unpredictable, and waiting for the "perfect" time might mean waiting forever. Many people feel like they’re never quite ready, but once the child arrives, they adapt and make it work. I say, trust that your ability to manage challenges will grow as they come.
This, this. We are in similar headspace thinking about whether to try for baby2 whilst one of us wants a career change. You can’t plan for what is so unpredictable. Also you don’t know how long it might take to get - and stay - pregnant. Keep both goals in focus. Whatever will be will be.
I planned to wait to become partner before having my 1st. Then I got passed over for promotion about 8 years ago and I was so devastated that I decided to go and start my family.
Thank GOODNESS I got passed over. Two years after having my 1st baby, and while literally BF’ing my 2nd born, I got the call that I was promoted to partner.
You come first.
Such a lovely story! Happy for you :)
depends on your age. anywhere below 35, get your career in order first. by that I mean: be far enough up the career ladder to be comfortable and needed but you don't need to be near the top. i think what matters most is to have a supporting mgr, growth opportunities where you are, the knowledge you will still have a job when you go back and can grow at your own pace. good luck
I thought 30 was the age before when people say the biological clock start ticking.
Financial stability is important, but it's not the only factor. If you feel that you can provide love, support, and a nurturing environment, those are invaluable. Budgeting and planning can help you feel more prepared, even if your income isn’t exactly where you want it to be. Many people find ways to balance career growth and parenting, and I'm sure you will do it too. And if this concerns you at all, yes it is totally possible to continue progressing professionally while raising a family, though it might require adjustments in your priorities and time management.
Wish I knew this when I was starting out. Things worked out eventually but it's been a ride!
There is no perfect time.
