McKinsey & Company Starting in the McKinsey London office soon and essentially need to buy a new wardrobe. Any advice on what I should prioritise?? Was going to buy a couple nice suits and shirts etc, but someone told me no one wears suits anymore and to buy chinos and quarter zips instead?

If you have a Rolex, I’m going to assume you earned it or deserve it. Wear it with confidence. Are you good at your job? Probably, so who cares. If you are still entertaining a new watch:
What’s your price range?
Looking for dress or sport?

Around clients? Maybe not, but around office is different story. How you interact w/ people > the watch you wear. You’ll get a variety of opinions here which is a great thing. Nomos or Oris is what I would have recommended as well!
Nomos
I wear Nomos. Only watch enthusiasts comments on it.
Some used GS can get into the 2k range, especially quartz models.
Not in budget, but absolutely love mine. I've tried on the quartz models and thing they're amazing as well
Longines Maybe?

It really does look great in person, just a little thicker than I liked
Which Rolex do you have? I hear your argument about perception but some models (OP for example) fly under many peoples radars. In the 2-3k range, I agree with the longines rec and certainly Nomos (if you’re a fan of Bauhaus design which isn’t for everyone). Oris is good too. I’m also partial to Sinn. 356 fleiger is cool watch imo, but I don’t generally love that price range honestly because it’s mostly highly finished ETA movements that you can find in $500 watches (except nomos of course). There are definitely higher end watches with great movements that 99% of clients will not recognize. So if the only thing keeping you away from higher end watches is client perception, I think that might be overblown

Dude. Wear the sh*t out of this and don’t even think twice. It’s one of the least flashy rolexes out there, and it’s awesome.

Which Rolex do you own and what level are you? I got mine as a C and would be a little conscious of keeping it under my cuff. Don’t really feel the need to anymore.

I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it - that’s a great watch and not a flashy one. Most people don’t pay any attention to watches and it’s not like it’s a Sub or something people would recognize. Plus it’s not like you’re an analyst. Client perception is a valid concern - if you’re in the room with mid-management then keep it under a shirt cuff but if they’re director level or above they won’t care.

Sounds like your job is the issue, not your watch! 🤪
Haha this is completely fair
