My boss literally has a foot in the grave and doesn’t care about this building at all. I get told to go away by others when there is a perfect opportunity to be trained. Most of the workers around me don’t speak English very well. I received NO training at all and was basically thrown in because everyone quits so fast in my position. Ugh, this is always the risk with working for a small business where training is just non-existent and the conditions are totally dependent on one owner who is like half-engaged. Def keep looking for work elsewhere, I'd go to other restaurants in person and apply to the ones that seem well managed.

Ugh yikes. That's seriously so infuriating to have to witness everyday. I hope you find something else soon!

I feel like this happens a lot in the food industry, to be honest. It's very sink or swim and a lot of people sink. All you can really do is just do your best and ask the people around you for help if your manager isn't going to provide any support.

Need help building an electric schedule for a production schedule with a Gantt chart style view (sort of)

Currently have an excel list with resource (production line), start date and time, and then also the name of the item being produced.

Any ideas how to tackle this??

I’m thinking a stacked bar chart with the vertical categories to be my resources and horizontal the date/time and then each individual bar to be the name of the item being produced.

Random question for anyone who has ever exchanged/gotten a replacement away travel suitcase. Is there any flexibility to get a different color? Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

Do you think culinary school is worth it? I've been a waiter for a year but really want to be a chef. The people I work with say to just start in the kitchen and work my way up but I think culinary school might get me where I want to be faster. The cost is pretty insane though. Any advice?

I had quite the day the other day. Coustmer comes in and then ends up leaving with a grossed out look on his face just for him to put in a complaint about my appearance...he down right called me some nasty things for no reason. Still feeling gross about it. He was upset for no reason as far as I'm concerned.
