My employer has accused me of being anti social and not a team player because I've stopped eating lunch in the breakroom with the rest of the team. He wants the managers to be present and available to the staff. Which is fine, whatever, but I'm working 10 to 11 hour days and my lunch break is the only time I get to myself to decompress. I go to my car, listen to podcasts, sometimes nap, this gives me the energy to get through the rest of the day. Am I really supposed to give that up?

No! That sounds unfair! If you’re socializing at work, you deserve a lowkey hour to enjoy your lunch and do what you want

No. Are you exempt or non exempt? I protect my lunch. Look for a place that lets you do that.

It sounds like they want you to work through your lunch hour, to be honest. I would push back and tell them no. You should be able to enjoy your lunch however you want, because that's your time.

I wouldn't. I need that time as well but I'm not a manager because I don't want that extra responsibility.

How do I know Big-Law is not for me?

I am a first year who just started a couple of months ago and I am literally confused all the time. I did some small work for two partners and they loved it, so put me on new deals but the mid levels I am staffed with absolutely hate the work I do. One said the work I did was laughable. I felt bed because I spent over 25 hours on this. I wouldn’t be very bothered but the other Associates in my class are killing it. So I just feel dumb all the time.

This is an emotional dump rn. It may be lack of social interaction but I'm really frustrated lately. I feel like I lost last 2.5 years of my life with ongoing lockdowns and job instability in the first half of the pandemic. I was 28 turing 31. I get good dates but -ve self talk
Inflation is high & coming from a low income family where you're supposed to help your parents is driving me nuts. Although I make a good salary, after rent, car insurance, there isn't much left (unfav currency exchange)
