Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Can anyone at Amex share my resume in their team to directly start the rounds of interview? I have tried for referrals through linkedIn and did not recieve any call from the HR.

It's interesting how people often focus on the perks rather than the reality, isn't it? Sure, I get to travel often and I love it! I've also made a long list of sacrifices in exchange. I deal with angry, stressed out people daily, have an unpredictable schedule, can't maintain relationships because I'm gone so much. I'm sure the people who think I'm "lucky" would never make those sacrifices themselves.
I know what you mean, and I bet none of these people could handle a job like this.
People tend to have really romanticized ideas of what other people's jobs are like. The truth is most jobs aren't as glamorous as they seem and they all have their downsides
Haha yeah, same here! What I wouldn't give to come home every night and spend weekends in the actual city I supposedly live in. It's pretty difficult to maintain friendships this way because I never know where I will be next month so making plans ahead of time is a bit troublesome.
It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? I mean don't get me wrong, I do like my job most of the time, and I get to visit places I've never been. But what people don't seem to understand is that when I'm on a ship, I'm in work mode, and while I technically get lunch breaks and evenings off, I'm still stuck on board with all the same people. It isn't usually so bad but it is definitely odd.
Not exactly the same career, but I spend all day on the phone and corresponding online with various sources to make and confirm bookings for my clients. So when I get a vacation, the absolute last thing I want to do is fly to some exotic location. All I'd be thinking about was "I don't like this room, I should have gone with the other hotel I was looking at" and "hey, they allow dogs, I'll have to keep that in mind in case a client asks me." No thank you.
