I think it does in theory, but the reality is a little bit different. Even when you feel like the success of the company will directly benefit you, it's hard to hold onto that motivation for long. Especially when it benefits the C-suite WAY more.

Totally agree with you
I've worked at places that offered similar. It didn't make me feel any more connected to the company, but it did make me think twice about leaving before it vested. Not exactly the same thing as motivation, but for the company's purposes, I suppose it worked out the same.

For me it makes me want to stay until the stocks vest. Our stocks bonus is given upon management’s discretion and isn’t guaranteed so it does make me work a bit harder
