I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Listen to your team. Don’t treat delegating and talking as a check box that needs to be filled. It really doesn’t take much. A little effort goes a long way with most people.
Small things count, right? Every little concern you show does help to build the character within the team!

I treat my team with respect and add value where I see I can. I am reliable and I expect my team to do the same. Role model your ideal behavior and that’s more than half the battle.
I have meetings with each of my team members every week. I think meeting with them for weekly one-on-ones helps to add value to the team and see where they are struggling.
That seems extra to me. I wouldn’t want to have 1on1s weekly with any manager. A team meeting maybe, but 1on1s I’d feel like I have to plan to have something to speak about each week in order to make my manager believe I’m working.
Chief
I focus on asking the right questions at the right time. I think guidance lands better when it feels like support, not control.
