Ohhh, the early COVID days at the store were wild. I remember one shift where customers were literally sprinting to the toilet paper aisle the second doors opened. Shelves would be cleared out within minutes, and at one point, two grown adults actually started arguing and then full on swinging over the last pack. Like, fists were flying, over Charmin.

Meanwhile, we were just trying to stock as fast as we could without getting trampled.
Anyone else survive that chaos?

That era really tested everyone’s patience and empathy. I had to quietly guide a crying mom through empty shelves one day because she just needed formula. Did you ever find moments of calm during all the madness?

like

Wow, that gave me chills. It really did test everyone’s patience. I remember moments like that too.

I still have photos of the empty Walmarts.

I was living in Texas at the time (which is punishment enough), and although we shut down (owners weren't arrogant enough to try to argue we were essential) for a whole 6 weeks, it was crazy.

I actually had hope. When Walmart stood up and refused to do returns because it was literally a pandemic, I thought maybe we'll come out the other end as a better society. Man, was I wrong LOL

Customer behaviour has certainly gotten worse since, but I am happy that SOME companies have taken a stand, and will refuse to deal with that attitude. Sadly, not enough, which is why things are worse.

Were? Most days, it feels like we still are. :(

Covid was crazy times, truly. I miss what customers were like before the pandemic. People are a lot less friendly now. Way more angry customers, and not near as many who want to chat about random stuff when the store is quiet. Society changed a lot.

like

Right?? I miss those slow quiet days where people would just chat for a few minutes. Now it feels like everyone’s in a rush or already mad before you even say hi.

Sounds crazy! I've heard similar stories from my coworkers, but I was still a senior in high school in 2020 so I missed the craziness of working in a store at that point. I hope we never end up back there again

like

Totally fair! You dodged a wild time by still being in school. Honestly hope we never go through something like that again either, it really changed everything.

Oof, the Great TP Wars of 2020—never forget. It felt like working a Black Friday every single day, but for paper products. Total madness. You definitely earned hazard pay in spirit!

like

The TP madness was unreal 😅 I remember people fighting over packs like it was gold.

I was just talking to one of my friends about this the other day. I had so much trouble finding toilet paper. I would get there right when they opened and still had so much trouble finding any. Those were wild times.

like

Right?! You’d think showing up at opening would guarantee you a roll or two but nope, shelves were wiped clean in minutes. Truly a wild era.

I laughed my a$$ off walked over to the baby aisle and bought wipes. Last longer too.

funny

Honestly, genius move 😂 Baby wipes came through when TP failed us all and honestly, they were way more efficient!
