Yes. Went for a firm that was obsessed with perfection to a firm that understands no one is perfect.

Yes. Less fire drills and partners thankful for work product. People try and have a WLB e.g. associates don’t stay past 7pm. Comes with less pay. It’s totally worth it imo.

I think it’s very group/practice dependent. Some “less intense” firms have very intense groups and vice versa.

Yes, especially if personalities are kinder.
It’s personality driven. I was at the most intense firm and now am at a firm known for being more chill, but I personally have found that the intense firm was really efficient and so I was able to get my life done when I wanted to, and my less intense firm is all about hanging out and being friends and sucking up all my free time with socializing.
I dunno, I went from v10 to v60 and there’s a difference in m&a at least. while the pressure might have been less, I had to deal with more shit since my team wasn’t as good. Suddenly had to start doing employment agreements and trademark license agreements bc I didn’t have an elite set of associates in specialty groups that I could rely on. Plus their redline software was so damn bad…. It was a tough adjustment and I’m happy I ended up back at the top.
