Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

Every single ex-agency client I’ve had, is among the most demanding clients I’ve ever had. They remember the worst week of their agency career, and then insist on you having that week again and again and again.
Chief
@SC I’m sitting next to her in most of her calls. We both WFH. 🙄
I get to put my notice in to do this next week! 🥰
I’m ex agency and refuse to hire trad agencies anymore, only specialized production shops. Cut the middle man and give the budget to the actual people making the work
Do you lead an in-house team? Are you interested in a junior with 3 YOE?
Totally agree. When I was in house for a short period I remember recommending our competitor. No way was I going to recommend an agency that laid me off…
Sorry Brian. I know it hurts, but my career is more important than yours. Hope this email finds you well.
Ahh lol it’s not you then
Agencies treat employees so poorly. It’s typically the karma they deserve.
It’s the whole “been abused as a kid, grow up to be an abusive parent” thing. 🤷♂️
Sometimes yes. But it's more that we've seen behind the curtain and know how much BS smoke and mirrors are involved.
Ridiculous 3x (5x?) markups.
Billing top talent, staffing unmentored juniors.
Not understanding the brand.
Misaligned goals (PR/awards for the agency, rather than *primarily* addressing business concern).
So much wasted time and decks spent on things that were never asked for or possible.
Here I am begging them to take me with them
It's because all their colleagues — ALL! — disdain advertising agencies. Honestly, almost everyone aware of advertising agencies disdains advertising agencies. Except those of us still unlucky enough to work in them.
Do explain OP
When you have a client who used to work agencyside you suddenly have someone who acts like they “know your tricks,” insist that the agency can actually pull impossible timelines off, and oddly enough have the absolute most outdated thinking on what a good idea or even execution is. Even if they used to work as a creative.
Anecdotal, of course. But in my 10 years of working I’ve only known one client to be an exception to this rule, and everyone I’ve worked with has said the same. It makes me think that a lot of people simply follow learned procedural rigidity without looking at the bigger picture.
Wait, are you shocked that this happens?
100% me
