I get how that can be a problem for you and your colleagues, but if it's been approved by management there probably isn't much you can do about it. If it really impedes the work, then you should take the matter to whomever approved the request and explain the situation. But from what you're saying, I assume it's just something that's allowed.
Then request for an adjustment if you need it. Stop poking your nose into other people’s lives. They are or getting special treatment, only taking advantage of a benefit that IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO YOU
Don't hate the player, hate the game
What kind of advice is that? So it's ok for coworkers to do that and leave all the other coworkers to pick up the slack on Fridays. Yeah, that's fair. I'm sure that if a coworker was doing that to you, you would be pissed off too.
Honestly, in my opinion, the manager should've realized it was going to cause a problem with the rest of the team. It should probably be on a rotation basis. Everyone should get to be able to work more hours and take one specific day off as long as there's coverage when they're out. That is a complaint that would come up in every office, just because someone else thought of it first the burden shouldn't be on everyone else.
Leave their portion of Friday work for them to complete on the M-TH Flex Time. Is Flex Time available for all?
Ok, let's look at this logically... Are they not working their allotted time? Are the not carrying their fair share of work when they are working? Are you REQUIRED to work 5 DAYS per week or a REQUIRED NUMBER OF HOURS per week? Is the system set up as to where you and your coworkers could all take a day week? Are you all just mad they figured out the system first?
It might be annoying, but it's hardly unfair, presuming that you and your other coworkers have the same ability to do so.
That said, if there's preferential treatment happening with the one coworker who's doing it, that's when it becomes unfair.
They shouldn’t be allowed to do that regularly. It should be addressed by the manager.
I always used to take Monday's off so I could watch football on sundays
One question. Who covers a worker’s work if they take a week vacation? They’re sick for 2 or 3 days?
Who do you think is getting work done before you get there and after you leave 4 days a week?
I don't see a problem with it. If you know this co-worker has their schedule like this then prepare to have reports or whatever you need from them completed by Thursday or even Wednesday so you can follow up with questions to answered for Thursday. There's always a way to make it work
My department allows flex time, but we cannot use it to take off on Fridays. We are required to manage our time throughout the week to ensure our team works on Fridays. Otherwise everyone would work 4-10s
Manager would or should be aware and I would bring it up because if playing field not fair, breeds contemp
Reasons are important, for he who needs Friday's off and those who have honest needs to oppose.
Is the work getting done? I assume her early/late work is working for everyone's advantage.
If they’re not slacking during the Flex Time then I suggest you mind your business before everyone loses Flex Time options.
And
Any time the only logic behind a complaint is, “It’s not fair.” all I can picture is a toddler throwing a tantrum.
That's nothing! After wfh almost two years, then coming back to a hybrid schedule, we found out one of our coworkers was still allowed to work at home permanently! No one else got that memo, and nothing was ever said about it in meetings at all.
