I watched it and was wondering what Indian people thought of it. Definitely cringed every time they said someone was "fair" and the way they acted about divorced people. Stereotypes aside, I think matchmaking should make a resurgence in American culture. I was impressed how ready the participants were to really commit to the process.
I have started watching it. And as unfortunate as it is, but these stereotypes still exist because there are people in the subcontinent keeping them alive. Even people in Canada and US show you the very same stories - just ask any matchmaking lady in North America. It may "look" different on the outside with the whole immigrant trying to be boradminded etc., but it's all the same inside. Same demands, same petty wishes, girl needs to be tall, girl needs to be fair etc. Believe me, these kinds of people still exist even in North America. I know many of them.

Lol I loved the show. Yes tons of stereotypes but then again, that is the reality for many Desi families so it was an accurate portrayal whether we want to accept it or not

I just thought it was stressful! Something about it was just anxiety provoking.. as an Indian, I can also see so many of these stereotypes..

Shows like these try to pain 1 billion people in same light. India is so diverse that it will blow your mind if you go from one state to another. Totally different.
After reading all the comments I am blocking my calander to watch this show it will be worth watching.
