This is crazy. That’s one thing that irks me a lot with education in many countries outside of the US. I grew up in a poor country where rote memorization is the norm. Children need to be children and grow at their own pace. Most kids cannot do calculus - or coding for that matter - at the age of 8 and it’s okay; yet it seems like a lot of parents think that bringing content years in advance will make their child smarter. It won’t. The child might look smarter but the lack of thoughtful training and that’s what is the important overtime: critical thinking, breaking down new problems, and creativity.
Sorry for going on a rant, this just drives me crazy
I grew up in India but in a business family so they never pushed for these things. My wife instead grew up in an environment where they push the kids and that’s our bone of contention. Her Xmas gift to my 5 year old was a microscope, I gave him a stone painting set 🤣 she wants him to grow up a doctor, I want him to grow up to be happy!
Short answer : no
