People in relationships: how do you have time for intimacy? I’m working or fielding emails from morning until after 11 every day, and am too tired for anything after that.

At some point you have to stop and carve out that time, for better or worse (work wise)

My spouse and I have 3 kids and no help other than daycare/school. We use the 5p-6p hour for adult time before we have to get kids from after school programs and daycare. Some weeks our schedule only lets it happen once, other weeks we are 5 for 5. But we try every day to make it happen as much as we are able because we know there are days where traffic or a sick kid can throw it off. It works for us, and we know it's not forever.

I try and leave the office at 430 and log back on around 8 or 9 and work til 11 or 12. Being a working parent and not having the income to afford more personalized help is not always easy to navigate.

Been married 19 years. Still incredibly interested in and attracted to my partner. I get pretty bummed when we find ourselves unable to be intimate.

Trying to get ahead of my caseload feels like trying to climb a hill made of loosely-packed pebbles. No matter how much I scrabble, I’m sliding closer and closer to the bottom.

How do you get caught up (or even ahead) when you’re always behind? Assume that all things that can be offloaded have been offloaded. I cannot take one more all nighter trying to get a motion drafted two days before the deadline because I couldn’t get to it earlier.

So, it's super obvious not to use "Police" in ads and activations, right? Like, we all know not to dress actors as police and have them "bust" people who have the wrong product, right?

I already have an MBA and curious if it makes any impact at all.

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

It's super frustrating to be "time poor".

That's seemingly just the nature of working in Biglaw.

But every day you have the option to buy back your time.

How do you buy back time?

It's simple—by saving and investing.

And you don't need to be uber wealthy to regain control of your time.

Consider this…

From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.
