PMs have value and do important work, but your jobs are fairly easy.
Why do you command 150-200k salaries?
Also, why do PMs have such a track record to move into various C suite roles?

I work for a large bank as Sr PM, where I am the business tester, product owner, business analysis, release manager, product strategist, write documentation, and train end users. We sit close to the business, give executive level presentations and wear many hats for different roles that enables us to move to other parts of the business because we understand the business.

PM jobs area actually not fairly easy if they’re done properly. Take a look at ask the process groups in pmbok; PMs are the only jobs that sign up to do all those things every single day, and frequently with no authority.

This is also why they move up. They understand strategy and task management, effective communication, budget management, risk management, and people management, and know how to apply rigor where it’s needed but still delegate.

like

Huh, I guess that makes sense

Overclocked and operating in high-stakes environments, PMs take extreme career and financial risks, devote themselves to startup innovation, and own the success or failure of a product in a highly visible role. They translate complex technical details for engineers, champion the customer, inspire teams, and thrive in high-autonomy, high-ambiguity conditions—pick any, or all, and you’ll see why the role commands that salary.

What's a good place to live to access both downtown and Argonne national lab in Lemont? I live on the far north side of Chicago now, but my partner got a new job and it would be an hour each way by car to commute for him. I work downtown along the red line. Looking for somewhere affordable, not interested in night life or anything but groceries and transit need to be 10 minute walk or less and be safe. Also prefer CTA over metra since my company has later night events. Thank you!!

I am looking for a perm, remote HR generalist or program manager position and getting no traction despite a well-reviewed resume. What do I do? Should I go to grad school?
