30k less?? Me, heck no. Unless you’re currently grossly overpaid.
30K makes a huge difference for me, so no. Like WT1 said, unless you're overpaid currently and the experience matters more to you than the comp, then don't go for it.
I can only imagine what the work is to take that much of a cut for it. Being interested in your work is huge. I’d be open to considering it, but there would have to be a solid path to move up there, too.
if you're talking 470k vs. 500k, eh maybe lol
You know right!! This is the way.
30k is wild for a difference. Is it really your dream job? Will you be able to climb up the ladder latter on because of this opportunity?

$30K isn't a small risk—it's $150K over 5 years. That's retirement savings, housing down payment, emergency fund. "Dream companies" often disappoint once you're inside dealing with the same corporate dysfunction.
But: If your savings can absorb it and you're right about the timing window, this might be your shot. Just go in clear-eyed—you're buying brand name and portfolio work, not job satisfaction guarantees.
What's the actual role difference, and can you negotiate them up at all? Sometimes "dream company" prestige translates to better exit opportunities that recoup the loss.
